Clementine is interested in publishing high quality persona poetry. Persona means "mask" in Greek. We are looking for poetry that places emphasis on an invented speaker. The voice need not belong to a historical figure or pop-culture icon, although it can; it can also be as simple as any voice in the first person. (Or not.) If the speaker is compelling, the language evocative, and the originality apparent, we'll take it.
Currently, we do not pay contributors, but we will include a link to your website.
Note: Look for our fourth issue in June 2010. We read submissions on a continuous basis.
Poetry
We (Jeffery and Rebecca) read persona poems year-round. Simultaneous submissions are OK, just notify us immediately if the poem is accepted elsewhere. We do not consider previously published material.
Please send 1-5 persona poems (preferably in one MS Word Attachment) to: Clementine@clementinemagazine.com
In the body of the e-mail, please include a cover letter with previous publications, if any, and a brief bio.
Make sure your name and e-mail appear on your attachment.
We try to respond within 3-5 weeks.
All rights revert to the authors upon publication in Clementine. The works can be subsequently published, though we appreciate if you note Clementine as the place of initial publication.
Photography
We are looking for photography with an emphasis on the animate. Photos should be e-mailed as an attachment. All standard image extensions are acceptable. (.GIF, .JPG. .TIFF).
Please include a bio and a brief explanation of the story behind the photo, and send to: Clementine@clementinemagazine.com
